The 2023 Annual Summary Meeting of the National Key R&D Program “Cultivation of Large-scale Stress-resistant New Varieties of Chinese Mitten Crab, Crayfish and Snails” was Successfully Held

On January 9, the 2023 Annual Summary Meeting of the “14th Five-Year Plan” National Key R&D Program “Marine Agriculture and Freshwater Fishery Science and Technology Innovation” – “Cultivation of Large-scale Stress-resistant New Varieties of Chinese Mitten Crab, Crayfish and Snails” led by the Freshwater Fisheries Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences was held in Nanning, Guangxi. The meeting was held in the form of a combination of “online + offline”, and was presided over by Researcher Ren Mingchun, Deputy Director of the Division of Research of FFRC.

At the meeting, Researcher Xu Pao, the program leader and Director General of FFRC, introduced the overall research progress of the program in 2023, the completion of the assessment indicators, the phased results, and the use of funds, and made a detailed plan for the work arrangement and assessment requirements in 2024. Subsequently, Professor Wang Chenghui, Researcher Xu Gangchun, Professor Gu Zemao, Dr. Pan Xianhui and Senior Engineer Liu Xu reported the annual research progress and next work plan of each project in turn.

The expert group listened carefully to the reports of the program and various projects, fully affirmed the organizational arrangement, research progress and phased results of the program, and put forward valuable opinions and reasonable suggestions on the breeding program, summary of research results, and refinement of assessment indicators.

Subsequently, the participating experts went to the snail breeding base related to the program for a field visit, learned in detail about the construction of the base and the development of breeding work, and conducted technical exchanges with the person in charge of the base.
