On September 2, the 2023 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) opened in Beijing, and the 2023 International Forum on South-South Cooperation and Trade in Services was held concurrently. Xu Pao, Director General of the Freshwater Fisheries Research Center (FFRC), attended the forum as a special guest.

At the meeting, Director Xu Pao made a report entitled “Teaching People to Fish and Building a Community of Shared Development for fishery”. After sharing the characteristic measures and important achievements of South-South cooperation of FFRC, he gave a detailed introduction to the achievements of FFRC’s implementation of home-field diplomacy, as well as the four major “South-South Engineering Programs” which would be launched soon, including “Technical Personnel Training Program”, “Poverty Alleviation Demonstration Program”, “Scientific Research Leading Talent Training Program” and “Seed Industry S&T Innovation and Digital Technology Joint R&D Program”.

Subsequently, Director Xu Pao released FFRC’s achievement of South-South cooperation – “The technological book on modern fishery for developing countries”.

Jointly organized by the Ministry of Commerce and Beijing Municipal People’s Government, the 2023 CIFTIS is the only national, international and comprehensive service trade platform in the world covering 12 major areas of service trade. With the theme of “Strengthening Capacity Building and South-South Cooperation for Common Development and Prosperity”, the forum was attended by more than 200 representatives from international organizations, ambassadors in China, national ministries and commissions, local governments, scientific research institutes, industry chambers of commerce(associations) and enterprises.
