On June 19, the Practical Training of Trainers (ToT) on “Cage construction, installation, operation and maintenance” sponsored by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and organized by FFRC officially started. Director XU Pao of FFRC attended the opening ceremony.
At the opening ceremony, Director XU Pao first extended a warm welcome to experts and scholars from Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. He introduced the achievements of FFRC in South-South cooperation in aquaculture, promoting the development of global fisheries and aquaculture, and ensuring world food security. He hopes that this training course could actively respond to the FAO’s “Hand in Hand” initiative, and through the knowledge dissemination and technology sharing of “cage culture” and “aquaculture technology”, a new mechanism for the dissemination of China-Africa cage culture technology will be established to help FAO realize the “Four better” good vision.
Mr. Joseph Oumo Odongo, Chief of the Department of Aquaculture of Uganda Fisheries Training Institute, made a speech as a representative of the participants. He expressed his gratitude to FAO and FFRC for the organization and preparation of this training, and he said that he would seize this training opportunity, use what he has learned to devote himself to the high-quality fishery development in his country, help aquatic technical talents to start their own businesses and obtain employment, and benefit the African people with Chinese fishery technology and wisdom.
The training lasts for 21 days, 9 experts from Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda participated in the training. FFRC arranges abundant lectures and practice, and will organize students to go to Guangxi, Shanghai and other places for investigation and study.
