中国水产科学研究院淡水渔业研究中心成立于1978年，是国家农业科技创新体系中集科学研究、教育培训、成果转化和信息交流于一体的综合性水产研发机构，“八五”期间被农业部评为“全国农业科研综合实力百强研究所”。2002年11月，被国家科技部、财政部和中编办确定为非营利性科研机构，进入国家科技创新体系。
中心现有在职职工180多人，其中科技人员125人，研究员16人，副研究员29人。有享受政府特殊津贴、突出贡献专家3人，院首席科学家1人，博士生导师4人，硕士生导师13人。

中心建有农业部淡水鱼类遗传育种和养殖生物学重点开放实验室
、水科院内陆渔业生态环境和资源重点开放实验室；拥有7个研究室：生物技术研究室 、遗传育种研究室
、渔业环境保护研究室 、大水面增养殖研究室 、水产养殖研究室
、水产病害与饲料研究室
和渔业经济和信息研究室
；同时还建有农业部长江下游渔业资源监测站、长江下游渔业生态环境监测中心、农业部新渔药临床中心指定单位和农业部长江下游渔业资源环境重点野外科学观测试验站。

中心成立以来，获得国家、省（部）、市级成果奖励110余
项，其中国家级6项（二等奖2项、三等奖4项），省（部）级38项。发表学报级论文900多篇，学术专著100余本。申报国家发明专利30余项。
作为中心重要组成部分的亚太地区综合养鱼研究和培训中心，自1981年起连续承担国家援外技术和官员培训项目，至今已为近100多个国家和地区培训了1500多名高级水产技术和管理人才。中心于1993年与南京农业大学共同成立的“南京农业大学无锡渔业学院”，现拥有水产养殖学和水生生物学2个博士、硕士学位授权点和1个水产养殖学博士后科研流动站。10多年来培养了近百名博士、硕士研究生和近千名本、专科毕业生。 |

Freshwater Fisheries Research Center
(FFRC), Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences (CAFS) was established in 1978, it
is a comprehensive institution for fisheries research and development
encompassing science and research, teaching and training, technology transfer
and information exchanges in the renovation systems of national agricultural
sciences. The Center in the National Eighth-Five Year Plan was evaluated by
Ministry of Agriculture as One of the One Hundred National

Agricultural Research
Institutions with Best Comprehensive Strength. In Nov.2002, it was
recognized as non-profitable research institution by Ministry of Science and Technology,Ministry of Finance
and State Commission Office for Public Sector Reform.
FFRC consists of over 180 staff members, out of
125 are research fellows, 16 are professors, 29
are associate professors; 3 enjoy the government
specially-awarded stipends; 1 CAFS chief
research figure; 4 Ph. D advisors and 13 Ms.C
advisors.
FFRC is composed of one Key Lab on Genetic
Breeding and Aquaculture Biology for Freshwater
Fishes, MOA; Key Lab on Ecological Environment
and Resources of Inland Fisheries, CAFS and
other 7 research departments for
Bio-technologies, Genetics & Breeding, Fishery
Environment Protection, Inland Fishery Resources
Assessment & Stock Enhancement, Aquaculture,
Veterinary & Feed Nutrition and Fishery
Economics and Information. Meanwhile, there are
Monitoring Station for Fishery Resource in the
Lower Reaches of Yangtze River, MOA; Monitoring
Center for Fishery Eco-environment in the Lower
Reaches of Yangtze River, MOA; Designated
Institution For Clinical Test on Fishery Drugs,
MOA; Key Field Monitoring Station for Fishery
Resource Environment in the Lower Reaches of
Yangtze River, MOA.
Since its setup, FFRC has been awarded
with over 110 prizes by the national
government, province (ministry) and the
municipalities, out of which 6 prizes (2
prizes in grade 2, 4 prizes in grade 3)
from the national level; 38 prizes from
the provincial (ministerial) levels.
There have been over 900 published
papers, 100 technical books, 30
authorized patents.
As an important component of FFRC,
Asia-pacific Regional Research and
Training Center for Integrated Fish
Farming has consecutively conducted the
international training programs for
foreign countries and officials since
1981. Up to now, there have been 1500
senior aquaculturists and managerial
personnel from almost100 countries as
beneficiaries. FFRC set up “Wuxi
Fisheries College” in 1993 with joint
efforts of Nanjing Agricultural
University and now has been granted with
one Ph. D station of 2 specialties on
Aquaculture and Hydrobiology, Ms.C and
post-doctorial station. For the past
decades, almost hundred graduates with
doctorate and master degrees and over
one thousand undergraduates have
finished their education.
